Cruel and Unusual Punishment

If any of you follow sports and ESPN at all you know about Plaxico Burress' recent trouble with the law. In brief he carried an unlicensed gun with him in the city and accidentally shot himself. He is now sentenced to two years in prison and two years of supervised release time. How is this a just punishment for a guy simply doing what many guys have done. His only crime was not registering it and being stupid enough to get himself shot.

In Comparison:

Adam "Pacman" Jones:

- 9 arrests or trouble with the law including fights, drug use, and assault.

For all this he was sentenced to ONE YEAR in prison and never served time, instead getting probation. Finally he is out of the NFL but where is he..the CFL (Canadian Football League).

Michael Vick:

- Running a dog-fighting ring for several years resulting in the death and injury of dogs.

For this Vick received almost two years (23 months) and served 19 months in prison with the remainder in home confinement. To begin the 09 season he was allowed to play the prison and will be eligible to play for the Eagles this weekend (week three) in the regular season.

Were these punishments right?

NO!!!!!!!

1. Adam Jones is the worst -Probation
2. Michael Vick is clearly number 2 - 19 months in jail, 4 months home confinement
3. Plaxico Burress' crimes are the least significant -2 years in prison, 2 yrs prob.

What should have happened:

Adam Jones should have received the same punishment Burress got a long time ago

Michael Vick should have served one year in prison with two years probation and a huge fine.

Plaxico Burress should have two years probation, a fine, and a one year football suspension.

And we think the government that hands out punishment like this can run our health care system? NO THANKYOU!
