Howdy friends!
This morning as been a good one. I won't up early for a 5K in Carrboro but for the first time I volunteered during the run instead of running in the event. It is great to compete but I thought it wold be a cool change of pace to volunteer and I was absolutely right! I am by no means a most competitive runner, constantly competing for wins but I now consider myself a veteran runner. Here are some ways in which you can tell if you might be a runner:
You might be a runner if.....
.....you drive by a runner and wish it was you.
.....you have ever been excited that you are doing one minute miles (while driving).
.....you know what it feels like to be cold, sweaty, and warm at the same time.
.....you have ever needed a fix, but are not refering to drugs.
AND FINALLY:
The thought of signing up for a 401K is just too daunting a task for you.
Funny stuff aside the part about volunteering I loved the most was looking into a tired runners eyes and saying, "Keep it up, your doing great, your almost there!" It is SO rewarding to see these runners get encouraged and find the energy to keep going and complete the task before them. I remember when I ran my first 5K and I too was very appreciative and encouraged by these volunteers and I am honored to help someone else meet their goals in fitness. For all you runners out there; keep running, but if you haven't volunteered try it on a weekend you are not competing and encourage the runners, especially the ones struggling or even walking. Just being a tiny part of reenergizing someone is great!
